Shirley Ceja | Philosophy, Politics, Economics

From: Pasadena, CA

Pomona Days: Class of 2010 | Philosophy, Politics, Economics

Current Employment: Registered Associate, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management

Shirley graduated from Colony High, in Ontario California. Shirley is first in her family to graduate high school and then pursue a college degree.  Her participation in Pomona College’s Academy for Youth Success, originally known as The Summer Scholars Enrichment Program, and her parents’ unyielding support helped pave the way to her acceptance to Pomona College.  PAYS is a three-year outreach program that works to mentor and prepare low income, first-generation students of color to gain acceptance and succeed in the most selective colleges and universities. The program offers a wide range of preparatory services including SAT prep, Advanced English and applied Mathematics courses, and summer research opportunities with distinguished Pomona faculty.

Shirley joined Morgan Stanley in 2010 shortly after receiving her B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Pomona College. Upon hire, Shirley tested and registered with the Series 7 and Series 66 trading licenses and is a Registered Associate in the Private Wealth Management division of the firm. While at Pomona College, Shirley was awarded The Claudine & Mathew Robinson Scholarship and accepted a leadership position as a Resident Advisor for Clark I during her senior year.

Shirley was also an active student mentor for Pomona College’s Chicano(a)/Latino(a) Student Affairs office.  Excited to advance her education, Shirley is a Riordan MBA Fellow at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and regularly volunteers to mentor young high achieving but underrepresented scholars for college matriculation. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new restaurants and watching documentaries of all kinds.
