I worked in development (fund raising) for non-profits before became a parent.  I stayed home for a number of years, volunteering in their classrooms, school plays and supporting the social-emotional development of my own children and others.  I loved this time in my life and would not trade it for anything.  I began teaching Preschool and found that I loved and was gifted in teaching children and encouraging their parents.  Now I serve as the Director of Early Childhood Ministries at our large Presbyterian church.  I enjoy my job and the long-term relationships I have had with the families I serve.   I don’t have a master’s degree, just certificates in Parent Coaching and lots of continuing education.  Remember that alumni like me, who might not have a career you are interested in, do know lots of people in various industries and have warm relationships with them.  I can be a great source for networking connections and perspective on how having a family might fit into your work/life balance.
